The festival of Lupercalia was a festival held around the time of Valentine's Day. The Roman god of Lupercalia was the god named Cupid. Then would pick their wives by drawing names from a hat. Whatever name they got that meant that they had to marry that person. If the man didn't like who he was married to then he go to a temple and have a priest divorce them. At the festival they also had a feast with a variety of different foods. The Lupercalia festival was important because it was the only way to get a wife.
