The Appian Way was built entirely from scratch. The Appian Way took 15 years to build. Slaves and lower class people would work on it all day. It was built out of sand, boulders, grave stone, and gravel. The Appian way was important because if the Romans Soldiers ever had to make a quick journey somewhere they could take the Appian way which was much faster then traveling on the regular ground. It also benefited traders because it was a safer and easier way to trade and make their way to Rome.
